Assignment 4.08

For this assignment I have chosen to read Chapter 1 of Shawn Sear's Marquee Value. In this chapter we are introduced to the main character, Jackson Kelly and his mother and brother. We learn a bit about the character as well as the various hobbies and interests he has partaken in at some point. Then we see Jack decide to audition for the school's productionf of Tom Sawyer. His mom is supportive of him, as she is in about everything else, but does not expect this to stick around for a long time. We then see that his newfound passion for the theater did stick around and has moved to New York to pursue acting. However, Jack finds himself constantly being cast in chorus which he does nto dislike but is far from the starring roles he was able to score in high school. I found this chapter of the book to be enjoyable and relatable as I see Jackson experiencing many things that I have also experienced during auditions and working on shows. I believe the author's intent was to entertain and he used a chronological organization to show us Jackson's story.
