For this assignment I read the fourth chapter of Shawn Sears' Marquee Value. In this chapter, Jack goes to a workshop to audition for a play based on a popular television show. We see his initial audition at which he meets several people with whom he has competed with for parts in the past. The audition goes extremely well and he gets a call back. At the call back he is narrowed down to the final three and believes he was best . We are left as the casting director is trying to decide who to cast as the lead.
The chapter was very enjoyable and entertaining and I often found myself being able to relate to some of the things he did and saw at the audition which made me realize that most auditions are somewhat similar despite what their production value or the type of show may be.
The author's intent was to entertain the reader with the story of Jack possibly getting a lead role in a big production for the first time and not just being stuck in as an understudy. He used a chronological organization pattern to tell the story as and how it unfolds.

Assignment 4.08
For this assignment I have chosen to read Chapter 1 of Shawn Sear's Marquee Value. In this chapter we are introduced to the main character, Jackson Kelly and his mother and brother. We learn a bit about the character as well as the various hobbies and interests he has partaken in at some point. Then we see Jack decide to audition for the school's productionf of Tom Sawyer. His mom is supportive of him, as she is in about everything else, but does not expect this to stick around for a long time. We then see that his newfound passion for the theater did stick around and has moved to New York to pursue acting. However, Jack finds himself constantly being cast in chorus which he does nto dislike but is far from the starring roles he was able to score in high school. I found this chapter of the book to be enjoyable and relatable as I see Jackson experiencing many things that I have also experienced during auditions and working on shows. I believe the author's intent was to entertain and he used a chronological organization to show us Jackson's story.
